Carpenter’s Pole and Piling was established in 1988, when Ben Carpenter II purchased an existing facility in Wiggins, MS, to operate as a family venture.Along with his wife and three children, Ben built the operation into a prosperous company.Carpenter’s Pole and Piling began as a manufacturer and supplier of poles and piling to area treating plants. The company’s procurement team purchased tracts of timber that were cut and delivered to the yard to be debarked and classed as poles or pilings.Operating with two dry kilns, the company was able to provide treating facilities with quality Southern Yellow Pine poles and piling, the beginning step in a long process of providing utility poles and pilings to businesses across the country.Time and experience enabled the Carpenter’s to become a leader in production and distribution of poles in this very competitive industry.
As time passed, the growth of the company and the timber industry allowed Carpenter’s to install an additional dry kiln, and construct and operate theirown treating facilities. This brought a whole new dimension to the operation, and two sister companies were established. Mississippi Wood Preservers, LLC, was formed in January of 2003. Mississippi Wood Preservers provides Chromated Copper Arsenate (CCA) pressure treatment for poles and piling, at a variety of concentration levels, including 2.5Marine treatment. This plant is located in Wiggins, MS and was named “Industry of the Year” in 2004 by the Stone County Economic Development Partnership. MWP strives to maintain the same level of quality production and community leadership that Carpenter’s began. This company later was merged together with Carpenter's Pole & Piling. In February, 2004, the Carpenter’s purchased a facility in Picayune, MS that had recently shut down for various economic reasons. This facility had used Creosote and Pentachlorophenol (Penta) preservative processes.CPP, LLC was formed to operate this facility. The company found that the demand for Penta did not warrant the cost of chemicals, so they changed out the tank to a CCA vessel.CPP, LLC has grown to be a very productive plant, and continues to provide quality products to a growing list of customers.
The need for a transporation company brought on the establishment of CC Rider, Inc. Because the demand for our products extends across several southern states, a fleet of nine trucks and trailers are maintained to provide local customers with materials in a timely manner. Our operators have proven to be highly skilled and conscious drivers, constantly maintaining current DOT credentials and following strict regulations.
The family values environment extends not only to the offspring of Ben Carpenter, but to the employees of Carpenter’s Pole and Piling, CPP, LLC and CC Rider, Inc. The Carpenter’s not only focus on providing quality products, but also in providing a safe work environment for their extended family as well. The company has always been involved in community activities and charitable events, and will continue to be not only an economic boost to the area, but also a dependable community asset.
